Well, its been a while since I have updated this thing, but now is better than never.

Christmas Day at the Homestead in Arkansas... look at the snow on my Chicken Coop... I wore Shorts Christmas Morning here in Va. |
Over the Holidays, our family had a very special box get delivered from my Brother whom I haven't heard anything from since February of last year. In the box were some nice gifts and an extremely long letter explaining himself and what he has been up to for the past um-teen months.

Sporting my New Humboldt County Hoody from Drew! Thanks BRO! |
This was unexpected and truly needed. We were all getting bummed out and worried that we still hadn't heard anything from Drew for some while and with the holidays at hand we were feeling the loss of the presence of Drew that much more. Then, on Christmas Eve, the package came in!
Drew has been places! He has been to Slab City and Salvation Mountain. He has met and hung out with some of the most famous residence of Slab City. Unfortunately he never got to meet Leonard the creator of Salvation Mountain as he was in a home for Dementia. He befriended a Rattle Snake that lived near his tent in the Slab for about a month... truly a "rock on" moment of my brother :), he had pics to prove it too. Now and Days he lives in the famed Humboldt County, California.... still don't know where exactly, but at least we have a county of where he is living these days and the PROMISE he will keep in touch more often and write more.... I'm holding him to that. Again, it was a huge sigh of relief that my brother is doing better, and I appreciate all thoughts and prayers that have come our way in the light of Drew's abrupt departure from the East Coast. And since I have learned that my Bro reads this blog from time to time, I just might have to be on here a bit more often now. And Drew.... NEVER EVER cut that beard... it looks awesome!
As for me.................... Well, since I have been back home in Virginia, I have kept an extremely low profile and have literally waited till 2013 to settle on a "whats next" in the life of Dave. And to be honest, I still haven't settled down on anything yet. My brain hurts though, because I am in my head preparing for a ton of different things all at once for my future. For instance... my Dad wants me to come on his next Israel Archaeology Dig at the lost city of Ai in May, that sounds exciting and like a fantastic opportunity Also, still looking with a potential client on some land maybe more of a local flair that I can work and still maintain the massage clientele so I don't go broke doing my garden passion. While doing that, I am still in the middle of starting up an Organic Home made Dog treat line that will also benefit shelter animals when you make a purchase. While those three things are going on, I have to take just a few more Continuing education courses to keep my license good for another 4 years in the Massage World by February. One problem for me is the paperwork involved in all of these upcoming projects of mine in the near future, and have come o the conclusion that I hold myself back when it comes to the technical legal bull crap that is associated with a business and really need someone who is good at that stuff so I can focus on the rest of the running of things and client interaction and whatnot... I love working, I just have the 1776 mentality that I should be able to do something and not worry about regulations, permits, zoning, and political BS that makes me want to just fold my hand and work for someone that already has worked out the red tape of the business. Its a wonder why Entrepreneurship is at a all time low in this country. And I'm not saying I'm not in favor of regulations and whatnot, as I don't want inferior products made with Asbestos or anything... I understand why they are there... it just needs to be more spelled out for me on what to do next in the progression of paperwork I guess.
Working side aside... I have turned my small backyard at my Condo into a cool little hang out area with a rock walk path and grilling area and a nice 28inch wide by 9 foot long mini raised garden that is 12 inches high... I am filling it with the best soil and manure I can get and am going to show just how much you can grow in a small square foot garden... that will be my next series in the blog of Dave so please do keep coming back for updates... especially as it gets warmer!

Once again, forget to take the before photo, just show the finished product. But that garden box is the beginning of my spring and summer growing awesomeness... stay tuned from what will come out of the box! |
Drew!- One thing you would be extremely jealous of is that I had the opportunity to work with Farmer Dave on a Local TV Commercial... so far, not so jealous... but this (local)commercial is for the Super Bowl... ok, still not impressed... well the Commercial was Directed by Derrick Borte... the same dude that directed "The Joneses" with David Duchovny and Demi Moore.... Yeah, thought you would get jealous! Derrick is now officially the highest connect I have met with the Hollywood Crowed. All in all the experience was really neat and I had a wonderful time on the set.

Farmer taking a pic of our set before filming started. |
|
Close up of the bull gate... notice the trap door on bottom for the bulldogs to get through! That is what I operated during the scene. |
|
Some of the runners posed for a shot for me before we started shooting... This is my complete set Farmer and I created :) |
|
Never seen so many Bulldogs in one spot in my life. 15 on set! |
|
My Complete set in-between a shot |
|
They needed another "Runner" so my Buddy Farmer got in the commercial |

Derrick Borte is the dude in the Hat. |
Either way, all the locals in Va reading this... it is titled "Running of the Bull(Dogs)" My roll was with my buddy Farmer and we were the entire Art Department. We set up an ally in Norfolk to look like an ally in Spain where the running of the bulls takes place, but instead of the bulls coming out of the gate... Bull dogs come out of this little trap door on the bottom (that I operated) and let the dogs come out to chase the runners. All and all it was a really cute commercial idea and I got to work with 15 bulldogs! Which were all trying to hump each other... I can only imagine that is what real set is like too...lol. Either way, it was fun and a lot of work and I can not wait for Game day in February to finally get to see the work on screen. For the non-locals and my bro... I will link a youtube link on a new post when it gets put on the internet. I just hope it doesn't suck! :P
